GCA Teaches Drawing to Middle School Students

Ten Harlem middle school students studying drawing with Carla Crawford finished up their year-long class with a copying trip to the MET last month! For the second year, GCA has hired recent WSA graduates to teach a formal drawing class in an after-school program shared by two Harlem Middle Schools Our Lady Queen of Angels and Mt. Carmel Holy Rosary Schools.

These students were also invited to enroll in our July teen workshop: Bargue to Portrait. Five joined us for eight afternoon sessions in our Cast Hall!

See photos below from the MET field trip and of student work:

This program is made possible with the generous support of the Morris and Alma Schapiro Fund.

I had no idea GCA was involved in this. This is very moving for me. This is what it's all about for me: communication, sharing and knowledge. New generations of artists. Very exciting!

Nice! Is there some Hudson rule that says all comps have to have a spindly pine in the left or right corner? Liking those Sowas!
